In June 2023, a total of 3.9 million cubic metres of roundwood was harvested for industrial use. This removal volume was down 13% from the previous year and down 12% from the five-year June average. In January-June, 30.3 million cubic metres of roundwood were harvested for use by the forest industries. This removal volume was down 1% from the previous year and down 4% from the five-year average.

  • Sawlogs accounted for 1.7 million m³ and pulpwood for 2,1 million m³ of the industrial roundwood removal.
  • Industrial roundwood removals from non-industrial private forests were 3.0 million cubic metres, down by 13% from the year before.
  • The felling volume in forest industry companies’ forests and state-owned forests was 0.9 million cubic metres, down by 15% from the year before.
  • Energywood removals totalled 700,000 cubic metres, of which delimbed stems and whole-trees was 47%.
