Commercial fellings, 3/2024

In March 2024, 6.4 million cubic metres of roundwood was harvested for industrial use. This was 3% less than in March last year and 4% less than the average for the previous five years. In January-March, 18.1 million cubic metres of roundwood was harvested. This removal volume was 3% less from the previous year and 1% less than from the five-year January average.

  • The removals of sawlogs was 2.6 million cubic metres and pulpwood removals 3.8 million cubic metres.
  • Industrial roundwood removals from non-industrial private forests were 5.3 million cubic metres, which was 5% less than in the previous year.
  • Industrial roundwood removals from forest industry companies’ forests and state-owned forests was 1,0 million cubic metres, up 9% on the previous year.
  • Energywood removals was 526,000 cubic metres. Of this amount 84% was delimbed stems and whole-trees.
