Commercial fellings, 2/2024

In February 2024, 6.0 million cubic metres of roundwood was harvested for industrial use. The volume of removals was 2% higher than in February last year and 4% higher than the average of February of the previous five-year period. In January-February, 11.7 million cubic metres of roundwood was harvested. This was 3% less than the previous year and the same as the average for the last five years.

  • The removals of sawlogs was 2.5 million m³ and pulpwood removals 3.5 million m³.
  • Industrial roundwood removals from non-industrial private forests were 5.0 million cubic metres, which was two per cent higher than a year ago.
  • Industrial roundwood removals from forest industry companies’ forests and state-owned forests was 1,0 million cubic metres, up by 4% from the year before.
  • Energywood removals was 375,000 cubic metres. Of this amount 78% was delimbed stems and whole-trees.
