Cereals balance sheet, 2008 - 2009

  • A total of 4.2 billion kilos of grain were produced in 2008, 3.4 billion kilos of which were used during the 2008–2009 harvest year.
  • On 30 June 2009, grain stocks stood at 475 million kilos more than at the end of June 2008.
  • Over half of Finland’s grain yield was used to feed livestock.
  • During the harvest year, the following amounts of grain were used as food: 284 million kilos of wheat, 92 million kilos of rye and 57 million kilos of oats.
  • During 2008, 295 million kilos of oats were exported and 86 million kilos of rye were imported.
