A total of 4.2 billion kilos of grain were produced in 2008, 3.4 billion kilos of which were used during the 2008–2009 harvest year.
On 30 June 2009, grain stocks stood at 475 million kilos more than at the end of June 2008.
Over half of Finland’s grain yield was used to feed livestock.
During the harvest year, the following amounts of grain were used as food: 284 million kilos of wheat, 92 million kilos of rye and 57 million kilos of oats.
During 2008, 295 million kilos of oats were exported and 86 million kilos of rye were imported.
