Agricultural and horticultural labour force 2016 (provisional)

Agriculture and horticulture provided employment to approximately 116,000 people in 2016.
Of this total, nearly 70% was accounted for by farmers and their family members.
In agriculture and horticulture, around 60,000 person-years were recorded in 2016.
Approximately 80% of all work in agriculture and horticulture was carried out by farmers and their family members.
More than 15,000 foreign nationals worked in agriculture and horticulture, performing nearly 6% of the work in this sector.
The number of agricultural and horticultural employees has decreased by 24 per cent from 2013.
The annual workload in agriculture and horticulture has decreased by 18 per cent from 2013.
