Overview of rural areas and the need of rural information in decision-making

MATIMATI

For actions directly or indirectly related to the rural areas, it is essential to understand their overall picture and what kind and form of rural information is needed and used to support successful planning and decision-making. From a rural perspective, it is also essential to ask how the rural areas are taken into account in different policies, how rural impacts can be assessed, and how different policies affect the conditions and status of rural areas.

The project has two main objectives:

1) To identify what kind and form of rural information is needed and used to support successful planning and policy making.

2) To develop a new rural policy tool and approach to respond to the needs for rural proofing at different levels of administration and to rural information needs in general.
