General objective of the InnoForestView project is to promote environmental protection and sustainable management of forest resources in the Finnish-Russian cross-border region.
The specific objective is to create tools using advanced information technologies, Earth Observation (EO) and drone data for recognition and evaluation of disturbances' impact on the forest ecosystem and biodiversity. Project aims to increase research cooperation and exchange of best practices between Russian and Finnish specialists, thus improving prerequisites for reduction future emergencies’ impacts. In addition, project has an objective to raise public awareness about state of the forests and environmental security.
Results:
- Unified information system "InnoForestView” – open access geoportal
- Identified sources of factors causing negative impact on the forest ecosystem in the cross-border region
- Tool for forecasting preconditions of negative disturbance in the forests
Luke's tasks cover remote sensing of tree crowns at different spatial scales, multispectral cameras and drones as tool to extract information, information processing, and mapping of insect damages (Spruce bark beetle).
