The aim of the project is to increase the know-how of farmers in South-Savo on preventive pest management, which helps in preparing for new and problematic plant pests, in reducing risks to production and in finding alternatives for pesticides. The project addresses the information needs of farmers and advisors on proactive plant protection, especially in the cultivation of open field vegetables and oilseeds. The project compiles up-to-date research knowledge and produces information materials on pest observation and monitoring methods (including digital methods) and the identification and biology of the most problematic pests and their natural enemies. In addition, the project demonstrates and distributes information on multi-beneficial farming methods and measures that can contribute to pest protection, climate resilience and increase of functional diversity of the farming environment, at the same time.
