AiMBRYO – Artificial intelligence in germination of Norway spruce somatic embryos

The purpose of the project is to rise the productivity and quality of the automation in somatic embryogenesis of Norway spruce into the commercialization level.

The project develops the robotics using deep learning methods and machine vision optimization technology to improve the volume and quality of spruce embryo production. Instead of a single classification robot, a production cell and an entity of several robots controlled by a single machine operator, are in focus. Somatic embryogenesis methods and work steps preceding embryo picking are also being developed to provide more suitable material for robotics. One of the key elements is to take into account the biological and commercial time framing in production of the embryos and piloting the mass production.
