The COP27 climate conference will take place from 6 to 18 November in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. The conference will bring together Parties to the UNFCCC to take action to achieve the shared climate goals of the Paris Agreement and Convention.
Building on the decisions taken at COP 26 in Glasgow last year, countries are expected to demonstrate at COP27 that they have entered a new era and are turning their commitments under the Paris Agreement into action. Other key issues include the future of the world's water resources and Africa's survival in the current and future climate.
The Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is organising three events in the Nordic Pavilion on 10 and 12 November related to climate solutions and sustainable use of peatlands in the land use sector.
At the events, Finnish researchers from the Catch the Carbon projects will discuss food systems change with a focus on climate-resilient use of peatlands. From Luke, researchers Hanna Kekkonen (TURINA project) and Hem Raj Bhattarai (NC GRASS project) will participate.
