In 2015, a total of 302,000 tonnes of wood pellets were produced, seven per cent less than in the previous year. Production volume was highest in 2008 at 373,000 tonnes.
The consumption of wood pellets, based on domestic pellet production, grew by nearly one per cent year-on-year to 240,000 tonnes, and was higher than ever before. Of the total consumption, households and farms accounted for 58,000 tonnes, heating and power plants for 182,000 tonnes.
Both the exports (+7%) and imports (+29%) of wood pellets increased year-on-year. The import volume of wood pellets was the second-highest on record so far.
