Fuelwood consumption in small-scale housing, 2007/2008

• During the 2007–2008 heating season, small-scale housings consumed a total of 6.7 million cubic metres of fuelwood. This figure is nine per cent higher than that of the previous survey conducted seven years previously.

• Of the fuelwood, roundwood accounted for 5.4 million and the various types of wood residues 1.3 million cubic metres.

• Of domestic roundwood used in Finland, nearly one tenth was used as fuelwood in small-scale housings.

• On average, a small-scale housing consumed a total of 4.6 cubic metres of fuelwood on an annual basis.

• Fuelwood accounted for two-fifths of the heating energy of small-scale housings.
