Ownership of forest land, 2013

• At the end of 2013, private persons owned a total of 376,000 forest estates of at least one hectare in area. A forest property entity refers to all forest holdings of the same owner or owner groups that are entered as a single item in statistics regardless of their location.

• The number of undistributed forest estates of deceased persons has decreased in the seven years since 2006 by 3,800 (8%) and the area of forest land has decreased by 160,000 hectares.

• In particular, forest estates of deceased persons have been transformed so as to be deemed as partnerships, the number of which has increased by 7,700 forest estates (16%) and the forest land area of these estates by 254,000 hectares.
