Milk Production by Area 2024

Milk production fell in almost all regions last year. As in previous years, Kuopio produced the most milk. 

• Dairies received 2,103 million litres of milk, which was 1% less than in 2023. Just over 4,100 producers delivered milk to dairies last year, 8% less than the year before.
• Milk production fell in almost all regions except in Southwest Finland and Ostrobothnia. In relative terms, production fell most in Central Finland, Åland and Päijät-Häme.
• Milk production was highest in North Ostrobothnia, North Savo and South Ostrobothnia.
• On average, 507 000 litres of milk were delivered from farm to dairy per year. The largest quantities of milk produced per farm were in Åland (707 000 litres) and in Southwest Finland (600 000 litres).
