Second advance estimate of 2025 harvest, 22 September

The estimated grain yield of about 3.5 million tonnes in 2025 is slightly higher than average in a ten-year time review. The wheat harvest estimate is one-quarter higher than average. The estimate for the oat harvest is one-sixth higher than the oat harvest of the last 10 years. The rye harvest estimate is 5% higher than average. The barley harvest estimate is 18% lower than average. If successful, the pea crop will once again be the largest in statistical history as large as last year, its crop area has reached record levels in recent years.

Finnish harvest estimate for 2025 on 22 September compared to the previous year:

  • Grain harvest total 3.5 million tonnes (+11% from previous year)
    • Oats 1.21 million tonnes (+/-0%)
    • Barley 1.12 million tonnes -4%)
    • Wheat 0.97 million tonnes (+30%)
    • Rye 0.09 million tonnes (+109%)
  • Turnip rape and rape total 80 000 tonnes (+64%)
  • Peas 102,000 tonnes (-1%)
  • Broad bean 15 000 tonnes (+8%)

The 2025 harvest will be specified on 20 November 2025 when preliminary data for the crop production statistics will be completed. They will be based on harvest data obtained directly from farms.
