First advance estimate of 2024 harvest, 12 August

The estimated grain yield of about 3.3 million tons in 2024 is on average in a ten-year time review. The barley harvest estimate is one-fifth lower than the average. Estimate for oat harvest is nearly a quarter higher than the oat harvest of the last 10 years. With a reduced rye area, the rye harvest estimate is up to 40% lower than average. If successful, the pea crop is the largest in statistical history, its crop area has become record-high in recent years the crop area is as large as the combined area of turnip rape and rape.

Anticipated crops for 2024 in Finland, 12 August:

  • Grain harvest total 3.3 million tons (+11%)
    • Oats 1.26 million tons (+25%)
    • Barley 1.12 million tons (+5%)
    • Wheat 0.80 million tons (+8%)
    • Rye 0.05 million tons (-42%)
  • Turnip rape and rape total 59,000 tons (+46%)
  • Peas 117,000 tons (+34%)
  • Broad bean 11,000 tons (+2%)
