Second advance estimate of 2024 harvest, 16 September
The cereal harvest estimate of roughly 3.2 million tons for 2024 will be slightly smaller than the average of the previous ten years. The estimated barley harvest will be a quarter smaller than average, while the estimated oat harvest will be a fifth larger than the previous ten years’ average oat harvest. The estimated rye harvest will be up to 40 per cent smaller than average due to the smaller rye area. If realised, the pea harvest will be largest in the history of the statistics. The pea area has grown to a new record level in recent years, being as large as the area of turnip rape and rapeseed combined.
