Crop Production Statistics and the quality of the grain harvest 2017 (advance information)

In 2017, the grain harvest was 3.4 million tonnes, i.e. 5% lower than in the previous year. The smaller sown area is the main reasons for the second-lowest harvest in the 2000s.

  • Totalling 1.450 million tonnes, the barley harvest decreased by 8%, i.e. 130 000 tonnes
  • Totalling 1.012 million tonnes, the oats harvest decreased by 2%
  • Totalling 0.789 million tonnes, the wheat harvest decreased by 4%, i.e. almost 35 000 tonnes
  • Totalling 114 000 tonnes, the rye harvest increased by 32% – was the biggest in the 2000s
  • The potato harvest, 590 000 tonnes,  corresponded to that of last year
  • The broad bean harvest (33 000 tonnes) was, almoust 20% lower year-on-year
