Collection, drying, cleaning, and cold storage of cones, seeds, pollen, and plant parts of forest trees.
Germination testing of seeds and pollen.
Seed laboratory equipped with three microscopes, one with a camera.
At the seed center, it is possible to thresh and clean various cone and seed materials, including small batches.
As a service, pollen and seeds can be collected, dried, and cleaned. They can also be quality-tested, for example for germination. The microscopes at the seed center allow detailed examination of the structure of flowers, seeds, and pollen, and images can be taken if needed.
Seeds and pollen can be stored in freezing conditions for short-term use. The drying ovens can also be used to dry various plant parts, such as roots.
Sample collection
Sampling, processing, and measurements carried out according to the experimental plan.
Target groups
Researchers, research groups, research communities, research networks, research projects, research organizations, companies.
Access type
- Physical, remote or hybrid access.
Service usage restrictions
- Handling of seeds and pollen is carried out by the research infrastructure staff.
- The introduction of plant diseases, pests, and GMO plant material into the research infrastructure area is only permitted in accordance with legislation and through separate case-by-case negotiations.
- The introduction of harmful invasive species is prohibited, and the import of other non-native species must be agreed upon separately.
- The use of chemicals must be negotiated separately.
- Research activities must not cause long-term harm or reduce the usability of the research infrastructure after the actual research period.
