WoodVALOR is a European Union funded research and innovation project that aims to transform post-consumer wood waste into sustainable, high-value bio-based products. The project supports the transition to a circular bioeconomy by developing innovative solutions for waste wood collection, sorting, decontamination, processing, and eco-design, while assessing their environmental performance across the value chain. By increasing the recovery and reuse of wood-based resources, WoodVALOR contributes to reducing reliance on virgin raw materials, lowering environmental impacts, and creating new opportunities for sustainable bio-based industries. At LUKE, research activities focus on the development and assessment of biochar and other value-added products derived from waste wood, including their environmental benefits and applications in sustainable land management
