Role of upland forest soils in regional methane balance from catchment to global scales

UPFORMET

The aim of the project is to elaborate the role of forests as a regulator of the regional methane balance. The remote sensing of vegetation and ground moisture is used with elevation profiles on the ground to predict the conditions in which forests are transformed into methane sources and to interpolate methane emissions from the local area to larger areas. The multidisciplinary approach of the project allows for a more accurate analysis of the methane balances of northern ecosystems.
