Renewable litter materials to replace use of peat

Turveke

The aim of the project is to reduce the use of peat as a litter by finding affordable litter alternatives that are suitable for current farm practices, verifying their functionality under practical conditions, and exploring the life-cycle environmental impacts of the most potential litter alternatives. By providing information on the properties of various new materials, the introduction of peat substitute bedding materials will be accelerated. Practical piloting provides a working example of the usability of new bedding materials and thus lowers the threshold for migration to them.
