The aim of the study is to evaluate i) the biological and economic consequences of dietary regulation of energy balance in early lactation to improve the reproductive capacity of dairy cows, ii) the biological and economic consequences of controlling matings between carriers of a known embryonic lethal in the Finnish Ayrshire population, and iii) the economic value of the various fertility characteristics of dairy cows.
The research will provide information for improving dairy cow fertility and tools for assessing the economic value of reproductive traits.
