Biodiversity in urban forests

TAMO 01

We will investigate the effects of forest management on the biodiversity of urban forests. Study will be performed in forests in cities locating in southern Finland. The project will produce information on the role of urban forests in maintaining biodiversity, and the biodiversity of trees, wood-inhabiting insects and fungi, and of soil microbes (fungi and bacteria) in managed and unmanaged forest sites. This information can be utilized in decision making relating to forest management.
