Wood Forward is a network launched by the Natural Resources Institute Finland to accelerate innovations and investments in forest bioeconomy. The network brings together regional actors, companies, financiers and industry associations to develop solutions that can sustainably increase the value of wood. Wood Forward produces high-quality information on the forest bioeconomy market and growth opportunities to identify profitable investment targets. The growth of the forest bioeconomy and the comprehensive development of the related value chains are critical for the global competitiveness of the Finnish forest industry and the preservation of the entire Finnish welfare society.
The growth of the forest bioeconomy is created in the sector's own value chains and in even broader, cross-industry value networks. In addition to companies operating in the value chains or customers purchasing their products and services, the development of the forest bioeconomy is also influenced by the decision-making of many other actors, such as decision-makers, authorities, citizens, financiers, and industry and non-governmental organizations. It is important to understand the effects of different actors on the development of value networks and business and to identify which actors are central from the perspective of accelerating growth. Luke identifies existing forest bioeconomy hubs and new drafts in the project and further develops them to increase the added value of the forest bioeconomy.
