Neonectria cankers on trees – meeting of changed climatic conditions and increased problems in Nordic horticulture and forest production by interdisciplinary networking
The aim of the project is to establish a Nordic network focusing on the Neonectria canker diseases caused by N. ditissima, N. neomacrospora and N. fuckeliana in horticulture and forestry. We aim to disclose the epidemiology of canker diseases through studies on distribution, diversity, biology, and genetics of the Neonectria fungi. The project also reinforces collaboration between research communities and stakeholders across the sectors.
The results of the project enable the development of proper detection and management techniques to prevent and diminish the diseases caused by Neonectria fungi especially in Nordic countries and neighbouring area.
