Living heritage plants

Calls for announcements of old flower bulbs and corms are arranged. Information and samples are collected to Luke's data management system via internet (www.luke.fi/ilmoitakasvi). The diversity of the plant material is evaluated and conservation of plant genetic resources is arranged.

This project realizes a part of the aims of the Finnish plant genetic resources programme.

    • The role of professional horticulturists and hobby gardeners in collecting information and samples of plants is very important. Materials is purchased from Sweden and Britain for comparison.
