The project aims to strengthen understanding of the way young consumers interact with food and discover strategies to decrease avoidable household food waste amount in the region. This will be achieved by researching possible methodologies, identifying and testing selected methods as well as creating and communicating guidelines for relevant stakeholders on household food waste reduction.
The project helps to solve the issue of food waste. Unsustainable food systems cause significant greenhouse gas emissions and create unnecessary environmental and economic burdens. Meanwhile increasing temperatures and extreme weather events pose significant risks to food security. Food waste significantly contributes to this complex vicious cycle. Households, especially young consumers, play a key role in producing waste.
