Breeding info: Climate benefits from tree breeding - an open information platform of tree breeding and implementing the gains

Aims:

The aim of the project is to improve knowledge of forest tree breeding and genetic gains regarding forest growth, profitability of wood production, quality of wood material, resilience of forests and climatic impact of forests and consequently to increase the use of genetically improved material in forest regeneration.

The aim is to gather up-to-date information of tree breeding and genetically improved material and to build up an open and easily accessible information platform to serve various users. The aim is to provide information to forest professionals and education as well as to forest owners and the public.

Impact:

The project improves understanding of the objectives, principles, methods and concepts of forest tree breeding among forest owners, forestry professionals and students as well as the public, increases knowledge of benefits and risks of genetically improved material, corrects miss-understandings concerning tree breeding, produces educational material for present and future forestry professionals and increases the use of genetically improved material.
