Innocity Joensuu 3

The main objective of the Innocity Joensuu 3 project is to strengthen the innovation-driven competitiveness, growth, vitality, employment and internationalization of the Joensuu region. Luke's role in the project focuses on the development of forest bioeconomy value chains and future forest planning.

The Innocity Joensuu 3 project also creates a common vision and strategy for the ecosystem actors in the region and its high-quality implementation in the key sectors of forest bio-circular economy and photonics. The Innokaupunki Joensuu project focuses on the development of, among other things, smart forestry, international networks and the Joensuu photonics service offering through the strategy and action plan work of the key sectors. In addition, the project develops research and business cooperation in both key sectors.

Innokaupunki Joensuu3 is a set of separate projects implemented under the leadership and coordination of Business Joensuu Oy, and the University of Eastern Finland, Karelia University of Applied Sciences Oy, Natural Resources Institute Finland and the City of Joensuu are the co-implementers. The project implements the Innovation Ecosystem Agreement 2021 – 2027, which was drawn up and signed between the City of Joensuu and the state in 2021.
