Breeding value evaluations should use all available data in the best possible model and provide estimated breeding values in reasonable time. Genomic information is a fast-growing source of data for the genetic evaluations. Challenges due to the increase in genomic data is subject of this project: how to compute efficiently (time & memory) breeding values using genomic and non-genomic information. In this project, funded by Forskningsrådet (forskningsradet.no), MiX99 software is developed further to be more efficient in solving models having genomic information such as the so called single-step GBLUP. The software will be used to estimate breeding values by Geno for Norwegian dairy cattle.
