Statistical and socioeconomic data collection of fleet, aquaculture and fish processing under the EU Data collection framework (DCF) for fisheries, including compiling statistics, answering data calls and reporting to DG MARE and developing related data processing procedures (eg. Postgres). EU-legislation (EU 2017/1004) obligates member states to collect detailed data on their fisheries sector, including economic situation of the fisheries businesses.
These data are used for i.e. scientific analysis and policy advice supporting common fisheries policies. In statistical and socioeconomic data collection, data is collected on annual basis about production, activities, employment and economic development of the fishing fleet, aquaculture and fish processing companies.
Data collection regulation (EU) 2017/1004 defines the establishment of a Union framework for the collection, management and use of data in the fisheries sector and support for scientific advice regarding the common fisheries policy. More detailed rules and obligations are presented in Commission implementing decision (EU) 2019/909 and Commission delegated decision (EU) 2019/910.
Data collected is delivered to the commission according to the data calls. In this project, participants are actively involved in developing the substance of data collection framework, use of the data collected and analyzing data in EU-working groups. The data is published in PxWeb and EconomyDoctor.
