Design and manufacture of sustainable materials for additive manufacturing technologies

DeMANS will have significant benefit for European society by exploring new opportunities for replacing traditional synthetic plastics with biomaterials in complex consumer products, simultaneously reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and developing new innovations and markets for biopolymer-based products. In line with the principle of ‘transforming knowledge

into innovation’, the DeMANS project will define the key challenges that have to be met to move from laboratory scale to inclusion in manufacturing whilst demonstrating the feasibility of the approach in the area of computer peripherals. The participants will exchange skills and knowledge which will allow them to progress towards key advances in additive manufacturing and strengthen the collaborative research between the different countries and sectors. The staff members participating in the project will develop new skills, acquire new knowledge spanning multidisciplinary areas across two sectors, be exposed to new research environments and have their career perspectives widened.
