CyberGrass 2.0 aims to improve the accuracy and integration of advanced technologies to optimise yield and quality of silage from harvested grass fields. The project recognizes the economic importance of forage production across the NPA region and the lack of adapted decision support tools to help farmers make management decisions that will affect dairy and meat production.
Key-objectives:
1. Satellite-Assisted Management: Develop a multi-region satellite-assisted management tool to provide forage yield, quality and harvest predictions.
2. Drone solutions: Provide low-cost, drone-assisted field scouting for timely interventions.
3. Future Technologies: Explore innovative tools and practices to assess and manage grasslands.
CyberGrass 2.0 will develop advanced tools for the efficient management of harvested grasslands in the region. Emphasis will be put on promoting technological innovation and skills, fostering networking and collaboration, and adopting sustainable agricultural practices. A starting point will be a comprehensive analysis of the current status of harvested grasslands using free accessible satellite data and low-cost drones. This will be gathered to develop a support system for grassland management accessible to the target group through digital platforms. The project will also develop tools based on low-cost drones to support farming practices. The solutions will be based on the target group’s inputs and feedback. Additionally, the project will explore future technological opportunities and challenges through surveys and discussions with the target group, enhancing their skills and adaptability to cutting-edge technologies, ultimately improving competitiveness in the agricultural sector.
Through collaboration and strategic implementation, it will integrate a transnational approach that does not currently exist, combining experts, end-users, datasets, and new methods to boost business competitiveness and sustainability of agricultural resources across rural communities.
