Topi Hanhela continues as the vice president, digitalization of Luke

Topi Hanhela (M.Sc.) continues as the vice president, digitalization of Luke and as a member of Luke's management team. A total of 72 individuals applied for the five-year fixed-term position.

Hanhela has been in the role of digital director since May 21, 2019. The vice president, digitalization is responsible for leading and developing Luke's strategic and operational ICT processes. The digital transformation at Luke involves opening up research and research data for societal and business needs, research methodologies, collection and maintenance of supporting research data, and development of digital services.

Our operating environment is changing rapidly. We want to leverage the opportunities of digitalization to streamline Luke's operations and processes and increase our impact. In particular, the utilization of artificial intelligence in our data-intensive organization creates many new possibilities. It is excellent that Topi Hanhela continues his work as the leader of Luke's digital development, rejoices President and CEO Johanna Buchert.

I continue my work at Luke with motivation to ensure our competitiveness. Future challenges in both public finances and research require seamless integration of operations and technology. Although cloud services and artificial intelligence are not the solutions to all problems, they open up opportunities to renew data management and practices, says Hanhela.
