Luke is looking for a Research Professor in Sustainable Natural Resource Governance
A position for a Research Professor in Sustainable Natural Resource Governance has opened at the Natural Resources Institute (Luke). The position starts on January 1, 2025, or according to the agreement.
The importance of the sustainable use of renewable natural resources has increased along with rising global economic and environmental challenges, and the rapid changes in the actual and political environment call for systemic changes in the use of natural resources. This, in turn, requires inter- and transdisciplinary research approaches, which are now characteristic for sustainability studies.
The research professor's focus extends to the ongoing change in regional, national and international policy agendas and change in the management and promotion of natural resources, especially from the social sciences point of view. The central themes of this open position are appropriate place-bound transforms, community-based learning, and socially inclusive and just transitions.
The general goal of the research professorship is to support knowledge-based policymaking, inclusive and just governance of renewable natural resources, and regionally balanced development.

The research professor should have a doctoral degree in a suitable research field, such as sustainability science or environmental policy. We expect the applicant to have a deep understanding of the various aspects of sustainability research, especially the social and cultural dimensions.
