I research sustainability transitions in food and bioeconomy systems, focusing on the societal and organisational factors that enable or hinder systemic changes. My work utilizes futures research, resilience thinking, and analysis of how innovations emerge, diffuse, and are adopted. I use participatory methods for example to identify alternative development pathways and build a shared understanding of change. My research focuses particularly on the agroecological transitions, the sustainability transformation of food systems, circular bioeconomy innovations, and the transformative capacity of the agricultural and food sectors. I examine how technological, social, institutional, and operational innovations interact and how their combined effects can be strengthened through research, stakeholder collaboration, and co-creation. My aim is to produce knowledge that helps identify various leverage points for systemic change, supports the practical application of innovations, and strengthens the capacity of actors to build more sustainable and adaptive systems.
