Fuelwood consumption in small-scale housing 2016 (provisional)
• According to preliminary data, a total of 7.0 million cubic metres of solid fuelwood was consumed in small-scale housings in 2016.
• This figure was four per cent higher than that of the previous survey conducted eight years earlier.
• Smallwood accounted for two thirds, 4.7 million cubic metres and logwood for one sixth, 1.2 million cubic metres of the fuelwood. The remaining part was various types of wood chips, recycled wood and by-products.
• The consumption of smallwood increased by almost one million cubic metres and the amount of logwood remained close the same as in previous account.
• Of the fuelwood, 1.2 million cubic metres were used on farms and 0.9 million on recreational housings. The consumption on detached houses amounted to 4.6. million cubic metres.
Natural Resources Institute Finland and Statistics Finland have collected shared data on the heating energy in small-scale housing. Provisional consumption of fuelwood is presented here and final results will be published in June 2018.
