Structure of agricultural and horticultural enterprises 2025

The number of farms continued to decrease in 2025, while the utilized agricultural area remained unchanged.

• There are a total of 39 825 agricultural and horticultural enterprises in Finland in 2025. The number of farms decreased by 1 143 (nearly 3%) from 2024.
• The average utilized agricultural area was 57 hectares per farm.
• Some 84% of all farms were family-run, 9% were farming syndicates, while farms owned by heirs and limited liability farms represented about 6%.
• 74% of farms had crop production as their production line, while 19% of farms were classified as livestock farms. Farms of horticulture represented 4%, and the rest of the Finnish farms are mixed farms with no single clear primary production line.
