The number of farms continued to decrease, while the utilised agricultural area remained unchanged (preliminary data 2022)
- There are a total of 44,611 agricultural and horticultural enterprises in Finland in 2022. The number of farms decreased by 1 078 from 2021.
- The average utilisable agricultural area was 52 hectares per farm.
- Some 85% of all farms were family-run, 9% were farming syndicates, while farms owned by heirs and limited liability farms represented about 3%.
- 70% of farms had crop production as their production line, while 21% of farms were classified as livestock farms. The other Finnish farms are mixed farms with no single clear primary production line.
