Agricultural diversity

Agricultural diversity means crop diversity, or the number of different crops produced on farms. It is important to strengthen crop diversity, as a diverse agricultural environment enhances soil health, offers various habitats for organisms and supports climate change adaptation, i.e. increases agricultural resilience.

Description of the indicator

The indicator measures crop diversity on farms. Diversity is examined by monitoring the number of crops produced on farms.

The indicator is a common CAP plan impact indicator I.22 as set out in regulation (EU) 2021/2115 (eur-lex.europa.eu) (eur-lex.europa.eu) (eur-lex.europa.eu), Annex I. It is used in all Member States.
