Egg Production Statistics, Q4 and year 2024

In 2024 just under 79 million kilos of eggs were produced, which is five percent more than in 2023.   

  • In the first half of 2024, production increased by two percent, and in the second half by eight percent compared to the previous year.
  • The production of barn eggs (+7%), organic eggs (+8%) and free range eggs (+31%) increased, while the production of egg from enriched cages (-5%) decreased.
  • 68% of production was for barn eggs, 21% eggs from enriched cages, 6% organic eggs and 4% free range eggs. 

We will update the total egg production for 2024 during spring 2025. Data on on-farm use and direct sales of eggs will be added.
