Second advance estimate of 2026 harvest, 21 September

The estimated grain yield of about 3.2 million tons in 2026 is almost average in a ten-year time review. The barley harvest estimate is 12% lower than average. The estimate for oat harvest is about 7% higher than the oat harvest of the last 10 years. The rye harvest estimate is 27% lower than average. If successful, the pea crop will once again be the largest in statistical history, with a record-high crop area in recent years.

Anticipated crops for 2026 in Finland, 21 September:

• Grain harvest total 3.2 million tons (-5%)
  • Oats 1.17 million tons (-3%)
  • Barley 1.13 million tons (+/-0%)
  • Wheat 0.83 million tons (-15%)
  • Rye 0.06 million tons (-27%)
• Turnip rape and rape total 93,000 tons (+53%)
• Potatoes 625,000 tons (+14%)
• Sugar beet 665,000 tons (-3%)
• Peas 142,000 tons (+55%)
• Broad bean 22,000 tons (+69%)

The 2026 harvest will be specified on 20 November 2026 when preliminary data for the crop production statistics will be completed. They will be based on harvest data obtained directly from farms.
