Access to seedling production platform
On this page
The seedling production platform enables a wide range of experimental setups related to seedling growth, production profitability, and seedling quality. Experiments can focus on growth conditions, irrigation, fertilization, substrates, and plant protection solutions.
The platform supports research on the annual cycle of seedling cultivation and the factors influencing it, as well as diversification of tree species. It also allows testing of new innovations related to forest pathogen research and insect control.
The nursery can maintain seedling material that is readily available for research starting on short notice. Available facilities include seasonal greenhouses and outdoor cultivation areas equipped with short-day treatment devices. There is also the possibility for winter storage of seedlings in a cold storage facility or outdoor field.
The service includes the use of the platform for conducting research, as well as equipment and test arrangements carried out by professional staff. The service includes preparation of the platform and necessary equipment, conducting the agreed tests and observations during the experiment, collecting samples and data, and, if necessary, pre-processing in a support laboratory and delivery of the results.
Sample collection
Observation of experiments, collection and preprocessing of biological samples as agreed.
Target groups
Researchers, research groups, research communities, research networks, research projects, research organizations, companies.
Access type
- Physical, remote or hybrid access.
Service usage restrictions
- Import of plant diseases, pests, and invasive species to the research infrastructure area is subject to legislation and case-by-case negotiation.
- Import of harmful invasive species is prohibited, and the import of other non-native species must be agreed separately.
- Use of chemicals must be negotiated separately.
- Plant health of materials brought in from elsewhere must always be proven with plant health certificates.
- Research must not cause long-term harm or reduce the usability of the research infrastructure after the study period.
Information to support the application
- Describe your experiment as precisely as possible. Note that conditions in seasonal greenhouses and outdoor cultivation are weather-dependent, which significantly affects plant care.
- Space required for the experiment (m²/number of plants).
- Required special equipment.
- Plant species and substrates used in the experiment.
- Details related to plant care, irrigation, and fertilization.
- Description of experimental treatments, observation collection, and required monitoring data.
