Access to cold testing chambers

Research Infrastructures
Research on plant cold tolerance using four test chambers.
Test material can be brought in from external sources.
Detailed analysis of frost damage – temperature-controlled support facilities for sample preprocessing and growth facilities for continued cultivation of the material.

The cold testing chambers enables preprocessing and cold exposure of plant material down to -70°C in programmable test chambers. Plant material can also be brought in by the user for testing according to provided instructions. Continued cultivation is possible in dedicated growth facilities, and damage assessments can be conducted in support facilities.

The service includes experiment setup, preprocessing, exposure treatments, continued cultivation and/or damage assessments, as well as documentation of exposure and experimental conditions.

Sample collection

Preprocessing and damage assessment using agreed methods.

Target groups

Researchers, research groups, research communities, research networks, research projects, research organizations, companies.

Access type

  • Physical, remote or hybrid access.
  • Scope of use must be agreed separately.

Service usage restrictions

  • Import of plant diseases, pests, and invasive species is subject to legislation and case-by-case negotiation.
  • Research must not cause long-term harm or reduce the usability of the research infrastructure after the study period.

Information to support the application

  • A detailed experimental plan must be presented.
  • Division of responsibilities and technical details must be discussed with the staff responsible for the platform and equipment when making a reservation.
