NFI: Broadening biodiversity indicators (VMI-moni)

VMI-moni

National Forest Inventory (NFI in English, VMI in Finnish) produces monitoring information about Finnish forest resources, the health status and diversity of forests, as well as carbon resources and their changes.

The VMI-moni project aims to find new variables and indicator species to be measured in the NFI that would improve assessment of biodiversity and impact of forest management activities on biodiversity. The new measurements developed in the project are expected to support both corporate responsibility reporting and monitoring by authorities.

The University of Jyväskylä is involved in the VMI-moni project coordinated by the Natural Resources Institute (Luke).
