SCOLYTOOLS Learning from experience - spruce bark beetle management tools

SCOLYTOOLS

The SCOLYTOOLS network aims to bring researchers from Fennoscandia and Central Europe together to exchange experiences in monitoring and forecasting spruce bark beetle outbreaks in their respective countries. The core members will define the purpose of the monitoring and forecasting systems and the requirements for the underlying data and models needed to create predictions. Management methods currently used by practitioners in different countries will be compared, with the goal of adapting or designing tools for the Nordic countries. By the end of the network period, the feasibility of adapting or designing a system for the Nordic region will be assessed.

SCOLYTOOLS is funded by Nordic Forest Research (SNS) and the core of the network consists of scientists from Luke, SLU, NIBIO, BOKU and SFI.
