The aim of this research project is to develop a modern tractor-powered insect vacuum device for the control of common strawberry pests, such as Anthonomus rubi and Lygus bugs. The aim is also to further develop, test, and communicate the new cost-effective insect trap based on open source code and machine vision, enabling near-real-time monitoring Anthonomus rubi and other pests, and to inform berry growers about the possibilities of new technology.
