Farms as producers of biogas in Lapland

The aim of the project is to find feedstocks suitable for biogas production from own farm or from outside the farm from an appropriate distance. In addition to agricultural biomass, side streams and wastes that can be used in biogas plants are generated at various stages of the food production and processing chain. Potential Lappish raw materials could also be less valuable fish and reindeer slaughter wastes.

The project provides experimental and verified information on the potential of biogas production on farms. Suitability of co-substrates on the farm scale biogas plant is studied as well. Project and its results will be presented for farmers and students on fairs. There will be also a report about utilizing different feedstocks in Lappi area.
