Background. The project is part of the FarmGas-PS3 group project, which in addition to Luke, also includes Savonia University of Applied Sciences and the University of Eastern Finland UEF.
The aim is to support Luke's development as a research platform for renewable transport fuels and nutrient recycling in North Savo. The project implements several EU, national and provincial goals, such as the goals of the North Savo Region to increase biogas production and promote carbon neutrality in the province. It also promotes the goals of the Finnish Fossil-Free Transport Roadmap and nutrient recycling goals.
The measure is to acquire, install and put into use the equipment needed for the research, which will be installed at Luke's Maaninga biogas plant. They are related to the equipment needed for biogas production, processing and nutrient recycling.
Together, the FarmGas-PS3 group projects (research and investments) promote, among other things, research and piloting of decentralized, provincial-wide biogas production, biomethane production and distribution, and nutrient recycling operating models. At the same time, the region's biogas production, the introduction of new inputs, and nutrient recycling on farms are being developed.
The whole also creates the conditions to act as a platform in accordance with the living lab operating principle, and strengthens Luke's paid service operations.
